JME Applet Throubleshooting

JME Editor is writen in Java1.1 and therefore is working well with practically all browsers and operating systems. Problems are caused usually by incorrect settings of your browser, or too tight security restrictions imposed on some company networks.

If you see the message "Java is not enabled in your browser", or you see just a gray rectangle, not an editor, you have to enable Java in your browser. This is browser dependent, in Internet Exlorer look for this option in Tools->Internet Options->Advanced, in Netscape / Mozilla browser in Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Enable Java

If you see the editor window, can draw molecules, but after hitting the [Submit] button nothing happens, or you get a strange error saying something about "non-existing objects or methods", the Java-JavaScript communication is not working properly. This is often a result of too tight security restrictions imposed on networks of some large companies. In this case complain by your system administrator.

Sometimes is helpfull to contact your local IT guru, he/she can help you with the correct browser set-up.

You may try also to install the latest version of Firefox browser. Then the JME applet is usually working (in addition to much better surfing experience).

Users of Mac computers have the worst cards, since Mac support of Java is far from optimal. But also in this case the installation of the latest version of the browser usually helps.

If nothing is working, you can always use the JME editor locally as a stand-alone program to generate SMILES, and then enter your molecule it into our text-based SMILES entry interface.

And of course you can purchase the Molinspiration Property Calculator and run all property calculations easily from your desktop.
